Storing Sweaters and Jeans After They Have Been Professionally Dry Cleaned

Part of taking care of your clothes after going to the Lafayette TN dry cleaners means knowing when to fold or hang them. While it is common practice to use hangers to keep clothes in shape, your hangers may be causing more harm than good. Here are some things to keep in mind while you are putting your clothes up.

Protect Your Sweaters

To prevent your sweaters from stretching out of shape, fold them up and place them in a drawer or on a shelf. When you hang your sweaters, the weight of your sweater causes the fibers to stretch. Even though you may not notice it right away, your sweaters will not fit as well as they did when you first purchased them.

Fold Your Jeans

Your pants are very heavy garments to place on hangers. If you have a closet full of jeans, consider folding them and stacking them on top of each other. This will help to preserve their shape and free up some space in your closet.

Out of Season Clothes

Have your clothes professionally cleaned prior to putting them up for the season. Store out of season clothes in a cool and dry place. Place them in a plastic tote or in a vacuum-sealed bag. This will protect them from dust, dirt, odors and fading until you are ready to wear them again.
