Clothes Care - Don’t Care?

When you’re on vacation, caring for your clothes is probably the last thing you want on your mind. We get it! All you really need is a little planning ahead, and diligent care upon your return. First, check the items you plan to pack carefully. Inspect for any unnoticed stains or damage. With the limited number of items s in your suitcase, you can’t afford for any of your wardrobe team to fall down on the job. Plus, the last place you need to deal with a wardrobe malfunction is in the middle of your vacation!

Let Them Breathe

Once you reach your room, unpack as soon as possible. This allows your garments a chance to breathe, and settle back into a fresh, attractive condition. Special tip: whenever possible, unpack on a luggage stand, dresser or table top to avoid any bedbugs that may be secretly in place from moving into your suitcase - and upon your return - your home.

Travel Light

You’ve heard of traveling light? When it comes to vacation wear, traveling with lightweight fabrics is best as well. They’ll keep you cool and allow you to enjoy those delicious breezes that waft about during warmer days, and they layer well for chillier days and evenings. Of course, lighter weight fabrics do tend to be more delicate. Keep in mind the care information on the labels, and be sure keep track of stain sources to inform your dry cleaner when you return.

Protect Your Fancy Party Dresses

Party Season is Here

Don’t you look lovely?! Spring and summer party season is upon us. Time to trot out your prettiest dresses, and your most handsome party-time looks. It feels good to dress up, not to  mention dressing up those little ones we love so much. Unfortunately, no matter how careful we are, accidents happen. Even more unfortunate is the fact that fancy party clothes tend to be a bit more fragile. But that’s okay. At McPherson Cleaners, we’re here for you! In the meantime, here are a few tips to help you avoid staining your favorite new fancy party dress:

Protect Your Fancy Party Dress

• Prepare carefully. Makeup, perfume, colognes, anti-perspirants and deodorants, and skin care all contain ingredients that can be very damaging for your garment. When possible, apply prior to dressing.

• Blotting a new stain is typically a good idea, however, remember to be cautious. It is possible to further spread the stain, or worse, damage the weave or the fibers of the garment.

• Never iron over any stain, as heat tends to cause a stain to become set-in.

• For best stain removal results, always bring your stained garments in for dry cleaning as soon as possible. And be sure to discuss the source of every stain with your dry cleaner.
